Troubleshooting: Is the Indicating Needle on Your Model MT3809G Off the Reference Mark? Try Re-zeroing.

If the indicating needle for your MT3809G or MT3810G metal tube variable area meter is either off the reference mark (Ref) on the scale, or has completely shifted off the scale, you may need to remove the indicator cover to re-zero and adjust the indicating needle. The indicating needle may be off if the meter received a sudden shock from an outside source (during shipping, for example), but adjusting the indicating needle is easily corrected.

To re-zero the indicating needle:

  1. Identify which type of indicator is on your meter – General Purpose, Intrinsically Safe, or Explosion Proof.
  2. Remove the housing cover to access the indicating needle. Listed below are detailed instructions on removing the housing cover and adjusting the indicating needle depending on the type of housing on your MT3809G or MT3810G.

General Purpose (GP) Housing Indicator Covers

Directions to Remove & Reinstall the GP Housing Cover and Adjust the Pointer

Using a flat blade screwdriver with a 1/8” blade, hold the pointer and turn the screw to align with the “R” on the scale. It may take a few adjustments to get the pointer on the “R”.
